Since 1952 there has been a decline in real disposable income during only one presidential election year. The incumbent lost that election.

答案是E么?

题干说大致说的就是选举的支持率是和人们的可支配收入成正比的,1952年人们可支配收入下降,所以那一年现任政府输掉了选举。

E就是说,除了参选人的政治立场(其实我也不完全清楚什么是ideological positions)还有其他因素会影响选举的结果。正好这里的其他因素就和题干里的可支配收入成为了对照。
