B最大的问题在于it指代谁不清楚。

我觉得不对吧，形容词修饰名词，of various ancient writers 是整个在修饰accounts的，但various ancient 是直接修饰writers的，意思为（各种不同的古代的作家）的accounts，various ancient writers‘ accounts 意思为各种不同的，古代的，作家的accounts。在GMAT中常常有这样表达的错误选项，在这种情况下所有格没有of表达的意思清楚，常常有歧义
