首先，省略的想法，是因为看了这道题：

一种更解释里有句话：（1）两个并列分句中，当谓语动词为系动词或者become时，后面一句一定要省略（2）并且and一并省略。


两题有点矛盾。


其次，B选项中的it 如果根据it是完整指代的原则判断，it应该是指代little polar ice，这样后面这句 were it to do so 解释不通。

当然不能省略，名词在前面verb要跟着:
Xs are so cold and Y is so reflective

C, D选项可以因此排除不用纠结。至如or else用法，我看不出有问题，请NN作答。

这道题考察：1）平行结构：and前后的结构要平行：所以，C D E排除。
2）Agreement：ice cap是单数，所以，只能用is，不能用are A 排除。
3）固定搭配：so...that: A中有两个so不正确。
至于or else 这个，我还没看出

我觉得这题主要是后面的would提示了我要虚拟，所以一下子就是B了。
