题目:The five hundred largest manufacturing firms in the United States produce goods that are worth almost as much as that of the four hundred thousand firms that remain.划线部分从that一直到最后。

正确选项是E worth almost as much as those of the remaining four hundred thousand firms that remain.
答案讲解说因为goods是复数名词，所以that不能指代goods；并且我sth worth...是习惯结构，所以选E。
我不是很明白为什么goods是复数就不能用that指代，这难道不是定语从句吗？

语法考的不是语法，是句意的合理性。

你对比原句和正确句子可以发现，that of the four hundred firms that remain改成了those of the remaining four hundred thousand firms that remain，这是二者最大的区别，所以你就应该去看这里面有没有意思上的差别。

当然，如果你读的够仔细，这二者意思上的差别是可以看出来的。

一个说四十万个公司，可以包括之前的五百家，一个说剩余的四十万个公司，华丽的排除了前面的五百家。仅此一点即可做题。

这个问题其实是这样的....
你可能把that的位置弄错了
他说的that不能指代的那个that实际上是后面那个as much as that of 这个that
不是定语从句的那个that
