That从句错误修饰了shots，而不是news。

我做的时候也错选了C，我认为 news of these shots的中心词是news，that逻辑上修饰news。

shots that were sent by swift messenger took four days to reach New York City and another eleven days

不过news of these shots that 确实有歧义 that 修饰 shot。所以，如果选最好的只能是E了。

我觉得that修饰没有问题，前面的中心词是news,而且国外的那个大牛800bob也总结过不是说that就一定修饰紧跟的那个词，歧义是指会让阅读者产生误解，而正常人谁会看这个that产生是shots被信使传递的想法?

我其实也选错了，一开始选了c,现在想想会不会是这个that限制了一下反而多余了，因为原句和正确选项都没有提到要限定一下这个感觉，现在这个that说的意思好像是news里面被信使送的那部分花了多少多少时间怎么样，虽然这样讲也不是说逻辑不通，但是原意里应该没有限定的意思

逻辑意思就是说shots的news怎样怎样，很明显that是修饰news的 但是news是不可数，因此不能用were而要用was，但是was那个选项后面的and also blabla是铁定错的 然后再去看DE 最后确定E
