我也十分不理解。作为such as结构, 后面的allowances等是non-salary

compensation的具体例子，实在不明白这里的those是指代什么？

C后面的those，按照数量和后面跟上的介词in，必须指代cuts, 所以就不是对nonsalary compensation做例举了，整句话的结构就不对了。

A:首先我假定made后面有个in被漏掉了。然后 as [those were made] in 的结构也是对的，as in前面那个逗号用法有没有错，表示as引导的clause是个non-restrictive relative clause. 但是A应该是错的，主要是逻辑上allowances是一种nonsalary compensation，这里前后关系应该是allowances, as an example, illustratively represents the larger subject, nonsalary compensation. 表达这个关系应该用such as，而非as。

A as B结构里面，as的最根本的用法是用来表示A [takes some action] in the position of B.

B语法上是对的。

D错在和A类似的原因，A like B imply A is analogous to B (roughly A=B), A such as B imply A is a superset of B.
