1. whether因的应该是主从 但or前为什么有逗号啊

2.they和their明显指代不一   是不是本题要暂且忽略这个问题 指代不一仍可作为标准

2.they指得是other animals；their指得是nonhuman species，各自为政，没有什么指代不一的问题啊

首先这是一个句子，没有分号，所以代词指代应该是统一的。

其次，their ability 的their 我感觉是指代chimpanzees, 后面的they 是other animals 

难道两个从句中的代词可以各自为政么？ 盼大牛指点！！

首先，Gmat里只要是讲 是否 时，基本都是用whether，这是个规律。

另外，这道题是两个不同的句子即：whether如何， 或（or ）whether如何，所以因为平行才用whether的。我认为。所以那个they 是指逗号后面“other animals”的。所以or前才有逗号

逗号只是表示停顿  加逗号和不加逗号 都是两个并列的从句 现在问题的核心就是两个从句中的代词是否可以指代各自句子中的名词？

今天看这个句子

or whether other animals would exhibit similar patterns if they were studied in as much depth,

就想到是不是可以理解为“或者进一步说........”相当于一个插入语的性质，原句未划线部分用的是一般现在时表示一个客观陈述，而该划线句中用的是S would V if S were V'

是一个虚拟语气的结构（虽然不是G要考的V+that be do的结构 但应该可以这样理解吧）

并且意思上看划线部分是最前面客观陈述的进一步说明，or在这里依然代表平行结构，只是在意思上看成moreover了，

但关于pron的问题还是有一些疑问

1、插入成分和主句代词可以指代不一么

2、有分号隔开的句子可以指代不一么 我一直以为分号只是比“，and”逻辑上联系更稀疏而已
