请教几个作文题的理解

Issue作文题中，
45. “The most effective way for a businessperson to maximize profits over a long period of time is to follow the highest standards of ethics.”
里highest standars of ethics应该怎么理解？

49. “Ask most older people to identify the key to success, and they are likely to reply ‘hard work.’ Yet, I would tell people starting off in a career that work in itself is not the key. In fact, you have to approach work cautiously — too much or too little can be self-defeating.”
作者的意思是：做工作要有一个度。既不要过份投入导致过劳而亡，也不能无所作为骗取国家和资本家的财富。
我的理解对否？

第一次考GMAT时，作文只得了3分。想到写作文头皮都发麻。
可能是和朋友用英语在网上胡诌太多了，写作的风格很难改过来。
