E afflicts的主语是listeriosis吗？中间为什么用逗号分开呢？这里while是什么用法？while不是应该做连词使用吗？我没有语法书，麻烦大家跟我讲讲while的用法吧，多谢了。

afflicts的主语是the disease it causes, 其中it指代 the Listeria bacterium ， listeriosis是 the disease 的同位语。

 

while在这里做连词，表转折，当和主句主语一致时，可以这么用法。
