[求助] 请教一道 Problem Solving 题 (two rectangles)

该题是云南教育出版社出版的那本蓝皮书《商学院入学考试指导【上】》第152页的第126题。 

In the figure above, two rectangles with the same dimensions overlap to form the shaded region. If each rectangle has perimeter 12 and the shaded region has perimeter 3, what is the total length of the heavy line segments?

(A) 15     (B) 18     (C) 21     (D) 22     (E) 23

题目不会做的原因是不明白 heavy line segments 指的是哪些线段。还望明白的大虾多多指点。

这种图片题要是本来图片就不清楚，就只能根据答案倒推了。如果 heavy line segments 是除去the shaded region的其他部分，答案就是C了
