The ranking is decided through a survey of 20,000 MBA students and graduates around the world, asking about the impact an MBA has on their career opportunities, salary increases and personal development. Bill Ridgers, editor of Which MBA? commented on the changing needs of students. ‘In the past a high proportion of MBA graduates tore the well-worn path from business school classroom to consultancy firm. But now students’ needs are more diverse. Jobs in sectors that were barely on schools’ radar ten years ago, such as private equity or real estate, are now demanded. It is those schools that can cope with the new demands that really stand out.’ IE Business School is based in Madrid, Spain. One of its China-related courses is a management program for senior directors, run with Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in Beijing. Chinese managers study in Madrid to learn how companies operate in Spain and Europe and western managers go to China to learn how to do business there. Both are residential.
