obviously, D is more precise and logical than C. The Subject "The paper" is

quite different from "The amount of paper".

paper是不可数名词，似乎不能直接比较它的多少，而应该用the amount of paper,比较

它的“数量”的多少.

more than 的用法：

1、more + adj/adv + than + ever/ever before/其他比较对象 常见

2、more than + number, 如 more than three hundred personality traits，也常见

3、more than + adv 如 more than merely 大全236

4、more than 表示 量上的比较，如 大全 652，大全 956
但通常不够精确，不如 the amount/number/density of XXX is greater/higher than
