My Wharton Interview Experience

I got Wharton interview invitation at 5:30am on the deadline day (the official deadline is 5:00am.

And I completed my interview on 54th floor, Jingmao Tower by 6:18pm,( it supposed to be complete by 5:00pm, for my 50 minutes late for interview )

I knew, as all you know, that I am saying bye-bye to Wharton as I run to the building. That is a sad fact. but, on the other side, it really helped me in someway in interview – when things goes to the worst, people usually turn to think in a positive way.. ..

I knew I was a lucky dog.

The people who should follow my interview came too early. And Admission Diretor T could not find me then deem him as me…. As I came. “My” interview just was over.

Then I handed in my resume and pic – I brought several pics I took in the Tennis events I organized. 5 mins later, I was invited into the “Board Room” .

The interview began with my apology, T’s forgive, and a cup of water he hand to me.

I introduced my self with my interest –tennis, - That is my passion as always, I wanted to find myself in front of him ASAP.

Then I was asked many following details in the events I joined in, leaderships and teamwork, frustrations, as well as proud….. a really nice warm-up for me.

Then I was asked about my career, why first job, why leave, why second job, why leave, why third job… I gave my answer with concise but direct reasons, also not forgot to sell my self in the milddle…

I got a surprise in the following question: any relationship between your interest and your job ??
I stop myself for a moment, but as I saw his smile, I got answer.

I linked my passion in tennis with my career via my personality, and my understanding about sportsmanship on courts as well as in work - I want he understand me and remember me, even in such short period.

I found the chemistry with him as he began to joke me with my story…

I then got his questions about why MBA why Wharton, why me and what is weakness

I got a “great! ” in the middle of my statement of why me. ( what I can bring to Wharton)

Also, I got a “checking watch” in the middle of my blahing another leadership case in work…

I was asked what questions I want ask at last. I asked his experience in Wharton.  I saw my reward- he told me more about himself, his interest, his passions, and his career choose. --- When you give others your sincerity, you expect to get theirs.

I end up my interview with a totally sellcy ending- that is my strength again. I just used it in a apropos way, and to a person that I truly respect.

My interview ended with a pure-hearted “thank you” and a warm smile from him.
