Before the interview, I had expected my interviewer to be nice as people say west coast school people are not as aggressive as east coast ones. But the interview questions are kind of tough. Sometimes he stopped my stories directly and pushed me to describe in one sentence. But I really like his style as the approach stimulated me for better answers.
- Why accounting? (My college major)
- Why choose that university at that time?
- What is xxx scholarship? (One of my scholarships in the university)
- What is your favorite course in college? What have you learned from it?
- What have you learned from xxx company (first company)? (Talked a lot here)
- Suppose you can have your own xxx business, why and how do you choose? What kind of situation/reasons that you will decide to go for the business or not? (Talked a lot here)
- What are 3 most challenges your think for xxx company (my current commpany) in near future?
- What's the worst situation you've met with people in company?
- Why MBA?
In between we talked a lot about certain assumed business cases and he tested me how I make the decision and almost no standard interview questions. But I did like it in which I can be more myself (On the other hand I think the interviewer also use this approach to probe the true picture). Although the questions were tough, he's quite nice in person. Now in retrospect, I found beneath the special format, the thing he wanted to know was quite normal: academic ability, professional experience, entrepreneur mentality and personal character. So, please don't get me wrong. For the interview, just relax and be yourself.
