做题的时候我毫不犹豫的选了D,但是OG的解释是被动语态awkward
D awkwardly and illogically shifts to the passive voice: certain characteristics should be acquired by their steers;)

被动语态的确不够好，问题是E选项完全不符合平行并列结构
请教大家，希望能讨论出一个合理解释。另外，我想知道这道题的答案有没有推广价值？

    这题D确实很像正确答案，特别是一个should让人看了BY之后认为不应该轻易改变。
再分析分析句子的逻辑意思：D说certain characteristics应该由their steers来获取，E用to acquire表示cattle breeders have increasingly used crossbreeding的目的。
非划线部分partly because crossbreeding is said to provide hybrid vigor又阐述了一个原因。
一方面用来获取。。。一方面因为据说可以提供。。。一个目的，一个原因，使整个句子很有逻辑，优于D的“应该获取”意思。

partly to acquire  和 partly to provide 平行~~ 表达了 increasingly

used crossbreeding的两个目的

D选项两个错误，一个是被动语态is awkward；一个是steer 不能 acquire

是不是可以把“because crossbreeding is said”理解为 类似插入语的修饰成分，这样 to acquire 和 to provide的平行就看的更加清楚了。
