The faculty and staff are extremely kind and understand what it takes to help students. Help is always available and even though a student may go visit the wrong office, they try to help as much as possible. They are committed and try to bring out the most of students.

The faculty and support staff at Iowa is amazing. I?ve really had such a great experience because of my advisor and certain faculty members who have been great advocates and advisors for me. Being admitted to the school as a freshman was also great because I got connected to the school right away.

The Tippie College of Business has 19 business student organizations that encourage professional growth. The college provides many resources to help student organizations organize events, such as bringing in professional speakers and case competitions.

The college needs to implement a course that, by major, teaches students a variety of career paths they can follow so that students can start finding out what interests them in their freshman or sophomore years. Also, the college needs to promote Iowa?s MBA programs more so than they do now.

The amount of community service and leadership experience opportunities available at Tippie is what sets us apart from other schools. I believe that the majority of students don?t just go to classes but are involved in an organization that helps us develop many other skills not taught in classes.

I love the fact that I can express my ideas and comments at any time. Even when there?s a lecture in W10 (people call this The Monster because of its size and seats, I believe it seats 350 people) I am encouraged to express my thoughts.

I think my peers drink more often than they are in class and are studying combined.

I think the Entrepreneurial Management program is something that makes the Tippie College of Business stand out. I have learned a great deal from these classes, and a big part of that is due to instructors having real world experience and not just a career in academia.

Camaraderie is outstanding among students, administrative staff, and some professors. The learning environment is very comfortable and welcoming.

For the large size of this University and Business School, there are ample opportunities for students to meet with and learn from professors individually. My Management professors have all made significant efforts to get to know students and offer their knowledge and expertise to help students gain sufficient insight to business practices.

All of the professors are really focused on giving us the skills we need to succeed in the real world, not what is going to give us a good grade in the class. They are all very helpful and challenge us to participate in outside activities to build our resume and be prepared for graduation. There are many programs and recruiting activities in the program that I think make it unique and successful.

Although Iowa is a large school with many students in the business program it still feels like a small, tight-knit community. By your senior year you know almost all the students in your major classes and the teachers know everybody by name. When you see teachers in the halls they will stop and talk to you and their offices are always open if you have questions even if they are not about class.

If I had to describe Tippie to someone who was unfamiliar, I would point to the general atmosphere of high expectations and professionalism. In all of my classes, I have the opportunity to work in groups where I have to collaborate with students from different backgrounds, and different ways at approaching problems. Although the technical education in accounting and finance at Tippie is absolutely excellent, I would say that Tippie?s main selling point is the school?s success in preparing students to enter a job market that demands excellent teamwork and communication skills.
