这道题答案选E, be of a type previously 属于一类...是解题关键,但我想问的是如果A改成 that they believe is of 对不对? LZM的解释是 "A错在believe is 连用", 我不认同,they believe 这里可以作为插入语.

另外, one of the books that are/is famous;
      the only one of the books that are/is famous这两个地方到底用are还是is,怎么区别?

1、你的划线应该是划多了个one，如果不是，则没有一个选项是可取的，也不太想ETS的选项。
2、A 中的one that。由于one已经起到代替星星的作用，加了that反而累赘
所以，A改成 that they believe is of 也不好。
3、they believe 不是插入语。
4、一般对一些不是非常确定的或在以前发生，而现在才发现的，通过推测进行定义的表达方式，用belive to be比believe is准确
5、下面的两个，我认为用are。因为 that从你给出的来看是修饰books的。

2,你们提到的"that的省略"是不是把that they believe is of中的that 看作是believe 的宾语,如果是的,那省略that符合GMAT的间接原则;但如果不是,因为我在that they believe is of中把that 看作是从句的主语, 简化一下就是 one that (they believe) is of

3,后面两个我暂时没找到完整句子,但我碰到过,下次碰上了再和大家讨论,不过有下面两局可以说明点问题:
This is one of the most difficult questions that have been asked.
One of the most difficult questions has been asked.
还是要看句子要表达的意思, that 从句可以跳过名词修饰前面的名词.

对于one of的单复数问题，是有规则可循的，在补充一下吧。
1。one of the books that are
2。but（only）one of the books that are，。。。主句动词用单
3。the （only） one of the books that is   
至于带有最高级的one of结构，看句意而定。
