我选的是D，当时觉得B里面的it指代不清，OG里说it明确指代code。为什么不能指代the basis呢？

还有OG说D选项错误的原因是this指代不清，为什么呢？我觉得this指代的是前面的一整句话。谁能告诉我哪里有问题呢？

this不可以指代用来指代一件事，或者整句话的。而且，this不可以裸

奔指代，也就是说this后面一定要一个名词，共同构成一个完整的结构。

比如 Hunters have killed all the dears in this area, this would

lead to great disaster.
这个句子中，this应该变成this phenomenon，也就是说this/that后面一定

要跟一个名词来做指代。

第二个问题，关于你说B中it指代不清。是这样：主语位置的代词，有倾向

在两个句子并列的情况下 就要对位指代
比如：，and       ；instead等情况   
而从句和主句并不是并列的 ，所以不能对位指代，而是就近指代

B选项的划线处讲了一件完整的事情，it自然指代明确，D选项只扔出了的because陈述了一件事情，后面的this读者让人恼火，我等半天没看到because对应的结果是什么。

就是说they本来要指provisions，但是前面的先行词很多，不能明确指代它。

你去看看manhattan的语法书，里面说了当B的情况，It在后面的句子里做主语的时候，可以指代前面一部分的主语，就是code，是没有指代歧义的
