E      lacking有应该修饰主语还是做定语修饰damage呢？

lacking直接跟在damage后，优先做定语修饰damage，逻辑意思错误.

定语的修饰对象有：名词、名词短语、代词

状语的修饰对象有：动词、形容词、另一副词、介词、连词、整个句子。

在此我认为without another doctor's testimony应该是修饰前面整个句子，表示伴随状态。

那分词在有可能作定语，又有可能作状语的情况下，应改作什么？还是可以理解

为修饰有歧义？

是的，有歧义。

所以如果“with/without引导的介词短语前面是名词”，就要仔细看下，逻辑上能不

能当定语和状语。

今天看了菜鸟手册里也有解释说with短语一般优先向前修饰主语，其实也就是你

说的那个意思了。

分词就是优先作定语，但是要看看逻辑上是不是作状语修饰主语。
