Entry requirements

Undergraduate

The Chinese SeniorHigh School Diploma is not acceptable as an entry qualification for LSE.Applicants from would be expected to offer, either instead or in addition, oneof the following:

• 3 A-levels
• The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
• At least 5 'Group A' Advanced Placement subjects     (see the College Board and UCAS websites)
• A University of London External Programme qualification
• A foundation course (See EducationUK for more detail)
• A year of university study from another     institution*

*Applicants towhom we make an offer on the basis of an undergraduate degree are normallyexpected to obtain not less than good upper second class marks, i.e. at least60% overall, but higher marks in specific subjects may also be necessary.Applicants applying on the basis of a foundation course or university studiesmay be asked to sit the LSE Entrance Examination.

Please see the individual undergraduate degree programmedescriptions for specific course requirements, especially for quantitativeprogrammes, where the advanced study of Maths up to school-leaving age is oftenrequired. All undergraduate applications to LSE must be made through UCAS (the central admissions service forUK universities). Information about how to apply can be found here and on the UCAS website. You shouldapply between 1 September and 15 January only. The closing date forapplications is 15 January in the year that you hope to start at LSE.

Graduate

Master's (MSc/MA/MPA/LLM)


To be considered for admission to a taught master's programme, we require a bachelor's degree with an overall mark of 85 per cent from applicants who have attended one of the top 30 universities in China with all other applicants（from other schools expect top 30 ）required to obtain a mark of 90 per cent.


This is our general minimum requirement; however, some programmes have specific requirements in terms of degree result required and subject background. Many of our quantitative programmes also require that a GRE or GMAT score is submitted. Please see the individual graduate degree programme descriptions for specific programme requirements and information about the application process.

Research(MPhil/MRes/PhD)

We require amaster's degree with an overall mark of 85 per cent/ B from applicants who haveattended one of the top 30 prestigious universities with all other applicantsrequired to obtain a mark of 90 per cent/A.
