E：答案中没有助动词do，省略不能成立呀。

2。. According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, （like that of earlier generations.）
(A) like that of earlier generations
(E) as it was of earlier generations
E中的it 我觉得指代不明。前文有it ，指代是house，但是这里的E中的it有混淆的意思。

没错，it按意思理解应该是goal，但你有没有注意一个its：its own land is... 。同一个句子使用its,it，不怕引起混淆吗？而前面its明显指代house。
所以，我觉得A更好。
