A:
people who inherit the sickle cell anemia gene from only one parent (seem to be resistant to malaria,)an evolutionary advantage that may exlpain why a genetic condition so debilitating to many individuala has survived in the human populatin
the correct anwer is A,
But I don't know why it is correct,I think that since the nearest noun from "an evolutionary advantage" is "malaria",so these two nouns should have some relations.....
I am very very pluzzled, could someone explain the problem to me?作者: justag 时间: 2003-1-7 00:26
When I read "an evolutionary advantage ", I also wanna find other choices (you don't provide, though). But we need to keep in mind that, usually, the descriptive clause modifies the former central word (ZHONG XIN CI, say, "the guy" in the sentence of "I feel attracted to the guy sitting besides me, who is so cute and handsome." ); yet descriptive phrase (v.+ed, v+ing) often modifies the nearest noun, pron. If other choices have obvious errors you can tell, don't feel hesitated to choose the one without the "obvious errors"
