For some reason the new consultant treats his clients (like idiots, talking to them as if they were )mentally deficient and incapable of understanding more than the simplest ideas. (E-P42-7)

why not use "treat...as ..."here,instead of "treat... like..."[em08][em08]

treat既可用于treat as,也可用于treat like,我猜想此句选这个选项的原因不在于treat as和treat like的区别上。
可否将含有treat as的选项打出来，讨论一下。

喔喔....

i prepare the exam all by my self, so i don't know what stand for "E-P42-7".i think the sentence should be the 7th question at page 42 in a book which i don't know. i get the sentence from SENTENCE CORRETION[em18]
