the answer is E but i saw that of the other version is C. which one is right?

i do not think that conceive of sth to be is a proper usage to word conceive. And " it" in C  appropraitely referred to the radio. Thus i prefer C

C里面错误太多了

first: the refrent of 'it' is unclear, does it refer to radio,telephone, or tool????

sec: the use of 'instead' is not favoured by GMAC, 'other than' is similar with 'rather than' which is the better than 'instead'.

third: the biggest mistake of C is the use of 'that' clause to modify 'telehpone', since the orignal modifier 'a tool......' is Parallel with the following 'a tool.......'. Parallelism is the most important aspect in the SC.

fourth: conceive of sth to be sth. It's not likely everything is proper with 'as'
