这里的each of the daughter cells没有问题

但是then后面的beginning 做什么成分呢？

then(,)each of the daughter cells begins a new life as a distinct organism

这样就容易理解了

then是个adv，不能单独作连接2个句子的使用。似乎Marshial地解释还不够说服力。。。

这里用的是独立主格形式，好像以前有人问过。。
