学校要求500-1000，我写了1500，可怎么也无法cut 啦，不知这样是否收影响。

For 1000 limitation, 1500 is terrible. You had better write according to the requirements.

true, an essay that cross the limit says that you are not concise, and you can not follow instructions. So it's best for you to cut it down.

send the essay to your friends, they may give your suggestions.

It's ok for 10% longer than suggested length according to many people. In your case, I think that's 1100. My opinion.

Someone told me +/-10% should be fine.
