Correct:The only way to know is to take the plunge.
Incorrect: Tht only way to know is taking the plunge.
不太理解错误句子的错误原因（to do ... , be doing ...），这里的平行是主语的定语和表语平行么？求解。。。

我其实也不是很懂，大概是和句子的需要有关吧。to do 和 doing 虽然都可以当名词用，但是侧重是不一样的。我捉急的表达不出来……想要不肚饿就要去吃饭/想要不肚饿就要吃饭这件事儿……
