答案是D。看了以往的讨论帖发现争论的都是B选项
但请问E哪里错了呢？
giving......做结果状语，逻辑主语指前面的句子。我觉得应该是这件事情为消费者提供了相对便宜的住房和家具，而不单单是the systematic clearing of forests。请教各位呀~~~~(*^__^*)

答案是D。看了以往的讨论帖发现争论的都是B选项
但请问E哪里错了呢？
giving......做结果状语，逻辑主语指前面的句子。我觉得应该是这件事情为消费者提供了相对便宜的住房和家具，而不单单是the systematic clearing of forests。请教各位呀~~~~(*^__^*)

只有D选项表现出了正面作用和负面作用的转折关系。E用的only only...but...是顺承关系

我觉得but是转折，but also是递进关系。
A选项中gave和create时态不平行，排除。
C选项中前半部分缺少谓语，排除
E选项就是逻辑关系上的错误，排除
我觉得B选项的also前面还是有一个主语比较合适。实际上，主要是意思上和D有区别。由于which不能修饰整个句子，因此B选项中的which修饰的是farmland。B中的意思是farmland gave consumers relatively inexpensive houses and furniture
而D选项的意思是The systematic clearing of forests in the United States gave consumers relatively inexpensive houses and furniture。从意思上进行考虑，我觉得D选项是正确的。
