这E中的结构是啥样的。。。the chemical irritant到底是metabolize的宾语还是harmless的同位语呢?

E 选项应该本来应该是这样写，
attempt to metabolize, or render [the chemical irritant] harmless.

or 代表两个动词，metabolize 和 render 的平行。

将the chemical irritant 放到最后。作为，metabolize 和 render 共用的宾语。

这道题正常的形式是 attempt to metabolize the chemical irritant, or render the chemical irritant harmless。这就应该好翻译了吧。
