If you have gotten great achievements, it will be the best. But if not, it doesn't matter. The key is that you have gained a lot of entrepreneurship experience and your leadership and self-employer spirit(as well as your other merits).

1. GPA is not the whole picture. Though 2.97 is a little low, but if you graduated from a top university and majored in physics or chemistry..., it may be not low. Also, if your GMAT and other background are strong, your GPA is not so important.
2. How long? The emerging market is interested by many. It will be an advantage.

how american define top university? tsinghua and pku?
My university should rank top 20, and it is a pretty good u. of tech.
Before, I have never thought that I can benefit from its domestic prestige.
But I am glad to know that chemistry major is graded more rigoriously.
