关键是区分that is之后的从句是修饰effect还是mechanisms.倾向于选择
mechanisms,原因有三:第一,that is是插入语,“即...”,如果从句修饰
effect,不需要加that is多此一举,定语从句本身就是对先行词的解释说明嘛;
第二,插入语相对独立可以去掉,两个定语从句连在一起显得很冗长;第三,
从意思上看,that is前后两个从句是并列关系,说的是一回事,但前者
(have a disparate effect)比较抽象,怕读者不理解,又在后面加了一个从
句具体解释这些机制运行的结果.
