The answer of No.1 should be D.
chemical----chemically (adv) to modify active (adj)

1.that 应该为which作为从句的主语。

答案没有错吧？1.which既引导定语从句又做主语.

2.应该是made the applications of electronic controls possible,所以不用it。

3.so called 省略用法

4.what既做宾语又引导主语从句
