COMMENTS
Entering the companies for jobs and internships is very cumbersome. This list should be completely alphabetical rather than having two sorted groups in the list. Putting the names not in the list in the second section is also awkward. There needs to be a more effecient way to either pick from the list or type in the company name

John Carroll's Boler School of Business is unique because of its ability to combine real world application and the comfort of a small school. Most of my professors have come from the business world and bring their work experiences back into the classroom and share them to expand the knowledge of students far beyond what is in the text books.

It is a small program. All the students know all the teachers in the business school. There is a unique sense of camaraderie among all the business school students. Because we have a smaller business school, our classes are small and there are no TAs teaching any classes, even the intro accounting and economics classes. The Boler School of Business also has a wonderful reputation in the Midwest and is well respected by employers
作者: s    时间: 2010-9-7 21:47

John Carroll is a Jesuit university, which offers the opportunity for a more well-rounded education, particularly concerning philosophy and religion. Given the increasing globalization of business, this cultural perspective may be as important as knowledge of business practices and concepts.

Our small class sizes give us both the opportunity to interact and get to know our professors both in and out of the classroom. These relationships are great assets when it comes to acquiring assistance with current work and advice for the future. In addition, a strong emphasis is placed on computer skills, especially our proficiency of Excel, which is pivotal in nearly every business-related job. Finally, our professors' goal is focused on providing us the best chances to succeed post graduation.
作者: s    时间: 2010-9-7 21:48

The Boler School of Business prepares you for any situation you may face. [The school] makes sure you are well rounded in all aspects of business by developing the whole individual. This is done with a solid curriculum of business courses and a set of core values of service and scholarship that make each John Carroll student feel responsible for the greater good of society and humanity.

The education of the program is unique because you are not just learning from faculty, but you learn from the students around you. I think John Carroll is one of the few schools, where students will discuss current economic events in their free time, and these discussions are helpful in putting the academic concepts you have learned together with real-world situations, which will assist John Carroll students when it is time to have a full-time position and put the concepts into a real-world scenario.
作者: s    时间: 2010-9-7 21:48

I feel that some professors were way better than the career center about offering advice and help with classes and jobs.

The size and quality combination is perfect. The professors are all held to a high standard for their classes, which are rooted in the Jesuit tradition of education. Because JCU is not a huge school, the professors know you and recognize you in passing, which lends to the fact that they are willing and able to help when needed. All the professors I have had have wanted to see each student succeed, but they make you work for it - they don't just hand over good grades.

The JCU business school lacks in some things but makes up for it by having outstanding things such as small teacher-to-sutudent ratio and effective support. I feel at times the curriculum could be more challenging in some courses but also less challenging in subjects such as stats.
作者: s    时间: 2010-9-7 21:48

I feel that I have been thoroughly challenged at John Carroll's business school. Since I have a scholarship and must maintain a 3.0, I feel I have worked harder than many students to maintain a good GPA and study very, very hard. While I feel proud of the effort I have put into my major, a part of me doesn't care about my major as much anymore because of the economy. I feel that John Carroll has an amazing business school, but that it is not well known enough to really get me a job outside of Ohio.

The accountancy program definitely defines the business school and makes it unique. The qualified professors truly care about the students and have the real-world experience that definitely make the business school what it is.
作者: s    时间: 2010-9-7 21:49

Tough accounting classes will have us very prepared for the CPA. The Jesuit traditions will allow us to be well-rounded, and we will take with us the Jesuit morals.

We are required to take many business courses that do not have to do with our major. Many other business schools only require one accounting or economics class, or one math course, but we have been required to take two of each. By taking more than one class of accounting and economics, I believe many business students have gained more confidence in understanding the business world as a whole and not limiting their knowledge to their own particular majors.
