The recent surge in the number of airplane ﬂights has
clogged the nation’s air-trafﬁc control system, to lead
to 55 percent more delays at airports, and prompts
fears among some ofﬁcials that safety is being
compromised.
(A) to lead to 55 percent more delays at airports,
and prompts
(E) leading to a 55 percent increase in delays at
airports and prompting

当我看到,and prompts的时候，我的第一个反应时prompt和has clogged平行，觉得意思好像也没有不通顺，然后冲就到选项里找has prompted，很遗憾地发现没有，这才发现prompt应该和lead平行。可是心有余悸啊，如果选项里出了个has prompted我肯定选错了，现在请问大家，怎么可以马上想到prompt和lead平行呢？？遇到这种and的平行结构，发现前面有许多语法上可以平行的参照物时，应该怎么正确判断才不会和错的词平行呢？？

这题 leading和prompting逻辑主语就是The recent surge 从句意好像直接看不出来
应该只能比较五个选项选最优的选项吧

从题目的意思看，prompt fears among some of?cials that safety is being compromised修饰前面整句话逻辑上比较恰当。航班数的增加阻碍了空中交通管制系统，阻碍这一结果比航班数的增加更有可能导致fears。所以prompting跟leading并列更加合适。个人观点。

应该怎么正确判断才不会和错的词平行呢？
当然要从句意逻辑把握，不要往往希望立马套规则迅速解题...

查Longman字典得出delay的名词有可数和不可数两种
1【countable】when someone or something has to wait, or the length of the waiting

time
eg：a delay of about an hour
eg：Long delays are expected on the motorways
2【uncuntable】when something does not happen or start when it should do

我想这题B应该delays的吧
