是有很大区别的。

有。whom引导从句，many of them要么新起一句句子，要么引导独立主格或同位语。成分不同，例：
(1)CD has a huge number of members,many of them struggle for futher study.明显可以看出其一山不容二虎的主语过多错误
若改成如下可接受：
(2)CD has a huge number of members,many of whom struggle for futher study.此时逗号后是一句从句，符合语法规则。
