in that和because在意思上都是“因为”，他们的区别在于：

1. 在连接原因状语从句时，in that较为正式

because used when you are giving the reason for something

由上可以看出，because只是给出一个解释，而不确定为真，而in that则为正式的书面用语，强调其真实性

2. 句子中的位置

in that不能位于句首,其表达形式为“句子+in that+句子”

但是because可以位于句首

我认为楼主没有必要问的这么清楚，其实只要知道in that有时候，可以用来代替because就可以了，而且可能用in that的时候，更加书面化一些。
