D是因为句子不完整吗? E是因为having的用法不对,并且and改变了句子结构吗?
选C是因为它的表达最好吗?

D的确句子不完整
E选项你注意一下时态如果and并列的话自然是将was designed和后面的now lined并列了，但是后面那个有强烈的时间线索now一定不能用过去时
AB 的问题是逻辑意思不对，lined的是discus不是weight,
E的另一个问题是一般不说 design sth doing sth ,design sth to do，后面的to do表示目的
