这个题目也是一个传统的争议题目 我会选择C

题目的考点是倒装句型这个特定的结构 和 主谓一致

句子的ABE三个选项都采用了全倒装句型，即把among the ...这个介词短语前置，然后是谓语动词 are believed to be/are 然后是主语 the rate

但是在倒装句型中谓语动词的单复数形式应该是有主语决定的 这里主语是the rate也就是说它和are是不能搭配的 这是A B 选项的核心错误

D选项的错误是相对明显的，因为D选项根本就不是一个句子，缺少谓语动词

真正有争议的是C和E两个选项 严格上来说 C和E都没有特别严重的语法错误

我倾向于选择C的根本原因是因为在C里面 On earth作为前置状语修饰句子的谓语动词is believed，所以这里on earth强调的是 在地球上大家都相信

而在E里面on earth作为后置定语修饰surest indications 这里强调的是 在地球上的各种标志

而原句中 on earth是作为状语的，并且这里并没有什么特别的不妥 所以E选项将其改变为定语是不合适的

我又学到个新的， 原来倒装谓语是修饰后面那个主语的........这是不好学啊！

这个就是个普通的定语从句吧  介词+which引导的..
