the key is Ｄ, and I was totally got lost. For me, it seems that A, B, C, D, E are all okay.

btw, I am using ＂ＧＭＡＴ强化资料　第一册　１９９５年１０月“。I bought it from New Oriental long time ago. 这些老的练习题是不是都过时了？

B：when这个时间状语插如中间，读起来有修饰expalins的感觉。
C：介词短语太长，ETS不喜欢。
E：不如which修饰的明确。
以上为个人感觉！

看来语感太重要了，读起来觉得顺口的选项就对了。
