it 指代 Erie Canal , 代词先于主句主语出现优先指代主句主语咯

B是对的。or用的很好。从逻辑上讲,这条运河很少有地方宽40或者深12,没有什么
不对。A的意思是这条运河很少有地方宽40且深12,限定条件更多一些而已。表示选择关系
A的主要错误是~it很多余~
but it ran 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York与the
Erie Canal 不平行。

but连接两个动作connected 和 ran 不对吗

这里应该使用OR ,因为前面seldom是否定词

seldom是否定词,不过句子是肯定句。用and理论上没错。
A的真正错误是后面两个完整的句子中间没有连词。而且A加多了一个代词表达不简洁。
从意思上分析,363 miles 和前面的 40 feet, 12 feet 都是修饰主语的,形式上应该尽量并列。把其中一个变成了句子主干的一部分,显然不好
