(B) As if
(C) In that they seemed
(D) Although it seemed
(E) Because it seemed to be

谁能解释一下这句的意思 ,it 是不是指 Emco

it是指代Emco.

该句A，B错在逻辑主语----shareholders seeming to be, 而且B中的as if 用在此不妥。

C 中they 与要指代的one of the few corporations(Emco) 不一致。

D不符合seem to be的用法，although 也不如because 清楚地表达句意要表示的因果关系。

记得OG中有一体题和这题及其类似：

Because it seems to be the only union..., sb. .....

1，seem to be+ 客观事实----看上去肯定真实的东东。seem+主观印象。区别不总是明显的，经常能混用。

2，名词短语前经常用seem to be。只有在着重表现主观感受的名词短语前，to be 可以省，尤其在英国英语中。
