twice what it was in the 1970's.

(A) twice as fast as
(B) twice as fast as it was in
(C) twice what it was in
(D) two times faster than that of
(E) two times greater than

由A产生疑问,
The rate of increase is fast.
The rate is fast.

“速率是快的”
这样的搭配逻辑意思角度可以接受吗?

No mistake for the saying " the rate is fast ". What is wrong is the expression of " twice as fast as ". This arrangement is not welcomed in gmat.
