我觉得在A里如果完成时（having left) 是做定语修饰lift forms 的话，好像不大对，不是白勇语法上说说过完成时不能做定语修饰的吗。

我反而觉得C比较对一点。presuming that... 作为插入语。

看看大家意见。

are you sure that the answer is A?

in A, "can" is redundant along with "whether".

C is better, but it still has a problem that the prensent participle

"presuming" does not compatible with the subject "traces".

maybe this is a special usage of "presume."

Anyway, according these options, I prefer C.

我又去看了一下答案，的确是A。

也考古了以前讨论的帖子，好像就在A or C, 不能确定。

再请教一下，为什么 whether 和 can 这里是redundant 啊？

因为我考古以前帖子的时候看见有人说这题的考点就是考这个can 形态动词不能少。

首先情态动词可不可省是根据实际情况决定的，没有什么优先原则。

把这句话仔细读一下，用中文翻译看吧，是否本来就包含有可能的意思。仔细体会一下 是否存在 和 是否可能存在。是否和可能是不是重复的？

还有一个语法点，虽然大部分情况下，having done做后置定语是错误的，但不是必错，有时还是可以做后置定语进行修饰的，这个需要根据实际句义来理解的。如果从句义上是要强调完成，并且是主动语态时，这时需要用having done后置修饰，我记得是GWD还是大全有过这样的一题。

随着学习的深入，你会慢慢推翻很多你之前认为对的语法点。

不过白勇的语法仍然是入门的好材料。

sorry，再多一句废话，考古以前的讨论很好，但要带有批判的眼光去看，不

可不信，也不可全信。每个人的解释都是基于每个人对语法的理解程度，程度有参

差，解释也有参差。

像一些大牛比如GEMJ你可以相信他99％。但如果有人的依据是“谁谁说的”，相信

85％也就够了。
